The Super Cup has always been held in one venue, that is the Odessa at the Chornomorets Stadium. However, because of the preparation for the UEFA Euro 2012, the tradition has been broken, and now the 2008 rendition has been transferred to Poltava’s Oleksiy Butovsky Vorskla Stadium.
Then in 2009, the venue was transferred again to the Sumy’s Yuvileinvy Stadium which was terribly unused since the bankruptcy of the main city football club.
In the 2009 cup, Vorskla participated, marking the very first team outside of the Ukrainian derby to participate.
The Ukrainian derby is composed of Dynamo and Shakhtar.
In 2007 and 2008, the Super Cup was played-off by the first and second placed teams as one of the teams became victor for both the Premier League and the Super Cup.
The 2008 version was dubbed as the Inter Super Cup of Ukraine, which was sponsored by the TV Channel Inter.
In 2009, there was an extension of the contract for 3 more years, and again on 2014.
The very first Super Cup was given over by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych.
In 2016 came another sponsor in the form of the American construction company Urban Development + Partners (UDP).
